Teens Through Time-Intro

Are you a fan of YA Time Travel, Historical Fiction or Young Adult Historical Fiction ? Do you love juicy historical details, especially about teens from the past? If so, check out the blog below.

Dude. It’s hard to be a teenager today. I totally get that. Everything is immediate, and the daily pressure can be enormous. Every. Tiny. Thing.–feels like life or death. A single day can go from bliss to drama to chaos, then wheel around again to the most intense elation or misery.

Don’t'you sometimes wish you had a crystal ball that could tell you what’s coming, so you could brace yourself?

A glance from a certain boy can set your heart racing into overdrive. A nasty smirk from the wrong person could ignite a chain reaction that could ruin your whole school year. Your parents rarely approve of the guys you like. They seem to always have their own ideas about who (or even if) you should date.

Things are so flipping hard today. Doesn’t it stand to reason that maybe things were different and WAY simpler in the past? Well let’s look at that.

In my current WIP, I send a group of modern teenagers back in time. Now, I won’t lie to you. My folks have a crap-ton of problems. But one thing they do learn is the following…

If you take away the iphones. (I know–gasp, right? But just bear with me, this is pretend, okay?) Take away the texting. Take away cars and Twitter and Skype. Set all modern trappings aside, and you’ll discover that today’s teen has way more in common with their medieval counterpart than you might think.

Beginning next week, I’m going to take a more in-depth look at the life of the medieval teen, and you’ll begin to see some remarkable similarities. (Oh, there’ll be some wicked cool AND horrific differences, too. But all in all, in 900 years things just haven’t changed all that much for the teenager.

As a heads-up, one thing you might find surprising in the next blog…

Every girl dreams of being a princess. And for those of us who love history and historical fiction, that is doubly true. Frick…I still dream about it. And yet, when we begin taking a look at the various aspects of life as a medieval teenager, you’ll soon see that–

Although it may look sexy and glamorous…Being a princess could SUCK!

Next week, we’ll start with an in-depth look at the topic on every teen’s mind first thing in the morning…..

FASHION!! WOOT!

About Janet

I'm one of those chicks who love books so much, I couldn't stand it till I wrote one of my own. I write YA Time Travel, and am dreaming of the day when someone a LOT smarter than me will invent a time machine. I have a wonderful hubby and two amazing boys, who--over the years--have ruined me forever from liking sappy chick-flicks. Now, I'm all about the fantasy. GoT ROCKS!! I am repped by the phenomenal Mollie Glick of Foundry Lit.
