Carpenter Middle School had the special pleasure of having Ms. Taylor, author extraordinaire, visit in February of 2017. Our students and staff were amazed and delighted at the thoughtful, engaging, and one-of-a kind experience Ms. Taylor provided CMS!

From the large group presentations in our gym, to having lunch with a group of super-excited Into the Dim groupies, to working with small groups of our 8th graders in a writer’s workshop setting, Ms. Taylor designed a remarkable event for our school.

Carpenter is looking forward to the many YA novels Ms. Taylor has yet to write!

*****Will you come back, Ms. Taylor? You inspired countless CMS students to become future novelists!

Thank You!

The students and staff at Des Arc High School would love to thank author Janet B. Taylor for coming and speaking to us. Our school is a small, rural school in a low-income, farming area. The students were very excited to see and speak to an author. Ms. Taylor, through her storytelling skills, inspired our students. She told of how she decided to write her own book when she could not find one she wanted to read. She described the writing and research process that she went through with her own novel which kept our students interested and involved.

One student, a junior, who had not read a book since the 7th grade, was so excited to read Ms. Taylor’s book, he ran my desk to check it out. He told his story to Ms. Taylor and the others and went to another teacher’s class to share with her.

It was a great day!

My school hosted Janet B. Taylor for our visiting author. She is a hard working and talented writer and an even better person. She visited four sections of 8th grade history and also taught a writing workshop for English class students.

Additionally, we hosted a writing contest for our 8th grade students and Janet developed a fabulous prompt! She then graciously agreed to help judge our Visiting Author Writing Contest. She read the works from the three finalists and provided both glows and grows for the students.

I highly recommend Janet B. Taylor for an author visit to your school since she can work with both history and English classes and is so incredibly engaging with the students.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Not only was the author visit informative and educational, Janet has such an outgoing and fun personality. She relates well to the students and they really enjoyed getting to ask questions and participate in the writing workshop.
